ŠKODA AUTO is one of the oldest carmakers in the world. Its history stretches back to 1895, when Václav Laurin and Václav Klement set up a business that gave riseto a tradition of Czech car manufacturing. This year, the company is celebrating 125 years since its founding and 115 years since it started producing automobiles.
The position of ŠKODA AUTO as a key player in the automotive industry has always been and will always be undeniable, not least because it has been part of VOLKSWAGENGroup since 1991. It has become a strong, internationally successful company that is active in more than 100 markets and offers its customers a total of nine model ranges – the CITIGO, FABIA, RAPID, SCALA, OCTAVIA, KAROQ, KODIAQ, KAMIQ and SUPERB. In associationwith the group, ŠKODA AUTO independently develops and produces vehicles as well as components such as engines and transmissions.
ŠKODA AUTO delivered 1.24 million vehicles to customers around the world in 2019. The carmaker currently employs about 42,000 people globally and goes to great lengthsto be a good citizen and neighbour in all the regions in which it is active.
The company’s headquarters are in Mladá Boleslav, where one of its production plants is also located. Another two Czech plants can be found in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí.The cars bearing the winged arrow are, however, also manufactured in China, Russia, Slovakia, Germany and India, mostly via group partnerships, as well as in Ukraine and Kazakhstan, in collaboration with local partners.
