Abstract
This paper evaluates the rapid prototyping and tooling (RP&T) techniques for developing punch & die for Press Metal Forming Die. In this evaluation, one type of prototype tool called Nickel Electroformed tool has been manufactured and tested. This type of tool has been manufactured by combining Stereolithography technique with nickel electroforming process. The tool can be manufactured at best within ten working days. The tool has shown that its material render durability and can withstand in extremes conditions. By combining nickel electroforming and Stereolithography process, the press tools for sheet metal forming have been successfully produced. Further, the developed tool has been evaluated in press metal forming of by producing components with 0.8 mm aluminum sheets.
