Abstract
A method of generating surface using solution to a suitable chosen partial differential equation is discussed. By controlling the boundary condition, design parameter, and other constraints, desired surfaces can be obtained. This paper explains the principles of this method, demonstrates how to apply this method to the computer-aided geometry design （CAGD ）process of vehicle bodywork and analyzes its strength and weakness comparing with the conventional methods. Finally, the necessary research to further its application is presented.
