Abstract
Todays demands of the automotive industry require an intensive application of the computer simulations during product development. Extensive simulation capability is already available, however, it still has to integrate more into the development process. In the future, simulation tools and application methods must be available to enable the simulation of entire systems. This can be achieved only if the simulation tools of the future are capable to lead engineers through the development process (process oriented user guidance). Further steps for the integration of the computer simulation and test will be required to bring together the already existing hardware components of the prototype and the computer models.
