A method for the estimation of structural parameters in a commercial passenger vehicle, through the implementation of parameter estimation techniques is proposed in this paper. The novel scheme assumes that the vertical dynamics of the vehicle can be effectively described using seven degrees of freedom (roll-pitchbounce model) and formulates the discrete equivalent of the analytical equations of motion, using the Tustin (bilinear) approximation, which is estimated using a hybrid parametric identification framework. Accurate structural, as well as modal, parameters extraction are obtained by the discrete-to-continuous transformation of the estimated characteristic matrix polynomial..
