Abstract

A new method for the analysis of optimal vehicle trajectories for obstacle avoidance manoeuvres, under consideration of the vehicle dynamics, is presented. The new optimisation method is based on Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle and succeeds in considerably reducing the necessary computational effort and in achieving transparency of the results. Numerical examples illustrate the proposed method of analysis.
