Abstract

In this paper a comparison is shown between the results of the numerical simulation on a disk brake obtained considering constants some structural parameters and ones obtained considering it as a function of the temperature. The structural parameters token in account are: thermal conductivity, density and elastic modulus, the numerical simulation model is traditional one, and the disk brake is one studied in precedent works. A particular attention is put on the stress behaviour, individuating the point of maximum stress that is on the braking surface during the first instant and on the corner connection with the hub at the end of the braking. The temperature and stress comparison show that neglecting these structural parameters a great error is not committed on temperature and stress, so that the corresponding calculation can be considered conservative. Besides an attention is put on the pressure distribution that is very different from one obtained by Romiti theory.
