Abstract
The determination of damping constant in the oscillating system is very important one, because permits the optimisation of the system in the vibrating phase. This work has the purpose to show the behaviour of the oscillating system having one degree of freedom in presence or less of damping constant. Many cases are examined also in presence of several types of input forces: for everyone the solution is given as in the term of temporal output as in terms of frequency output.
Finally the case of impulsive input is examined and for this case the optimum damping constant is determined as in approximate way as in a more precise one, in order to yield minimum the maximum acceleration of the system and the acting force. In the automotive case the damping optimisation is necessary to avoid dangerous vibrations. Some considerations continue on the absorbed energy by both spring and damping constant.
