Abstract
Suspension springs have undergone rapid evolution with the development of new types of lighter, more compact springs.
For cylindrical wire springs, we propose in particular an optimized microalloyed steel grade
- 60SCV7 - which makes it possible to achieve especially high working stresses.
For barrel springs with biconical wire, USINOR proposes a specifically wire grade 54SCV6, continually scarfed according to a variable diameter (biconical shape), quenched and tempered in line to the required service strength. In all, an expected weight reduction of about 30%.
