Abstract
The evolution of the Electrical and electronic Distribution System (EEDS) goes from discrete components to mechatronics and multiplexing. In a conceptual description of the conventional system there are fuses in different locations, plug-in relays, power switches and dedicated electronic controllers. This paper analyzes the progression of the EEDS and the opportunities of improvement and shows some advantadges as weight, wires, splices and cost reduction, design flexibility and ease of assembly into the car.
