Abstract
The paper presents various examples of results obtained in a global study of the different aspects of the injection-combustion process in a D.I. Diesel engine, with a high pressure flexible injection system. The objective is to understand the influence of the operation conditions, particularly the injection conditions, on the engine behaviour, by means of a global analysis of the instantaneous injection conditions, the spray characteristics and the combustion process. Thus, this study combines simultaneously different tests on engine and rigs, representative of real operation conditions, and different characterisation and analysis techniques.
