Abstract
The paper presents a new developed trailer to determine the rolling resistance of passenger car tyres on real roadways. The design of the trailer allows a large variation of wheel load, camber and toe at both test wheels. Thereby it is possible not only to investigate the influence of the tyre and the road surface on the rolling resistance but also to determine the effects of the vehicle load condition and of the wheel suspension design systematically. By measuring on real roadways the influence of the road surface can be investigated and deviations, which occur by measurements on drums of bench tests can be eliminated.
