Abstract

The preparation of palladium, rhodium and silver catalyst on Al2O3-SiO2 layer deposited on metallic substrate is presented. The catalyst is designed for nitrogen oxide reduction in diesel exhaust gases. The results of catalyst studies in thermal chamber with diesel exhaust gas and propane as a reductant are presented. At this condition, 90% of nitrogen oxides reduction was obtained. The results of silver catalyst studies on a stand with direct injection diesel engine are described. Dispersed diesel oil was used as a reductant. For oil dispersion in exhaust gases ultrasonic atomizer at 20 kHz and 15 W power was used. It generated 47µm droplets (according to Sauter). For silver catalyst 60% nitrogen oxides reduction was obtained.
