Abstract

The demand of the society on drive stability of heavy commercial vehicles is increasing with the growing number of vehicles and traffic on public roads througout Europe. Both the leading vehicle manufacturers as well as the brake system suppliers are facing the challange to fulfill the mentioned demand of the society and its projection, the market's needs. This paper summarizes the Drive Stability Control (DSC) concept and one of the possible solution currently investigated by Knorr Bremse. The paper discusses some of the highlighted problems of the DSC concept, its implementation in the EBS (Electronic Brake System) environment and presents theoretical, simulation and field test results. The DSC system’s position in the intelligent chassis management system will also be introduced.
