Abstract

This paper focuses on the controller development process of the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) for tractor-semi-trailer combinations. Modular multibody simulation models have been developed in SIMPACK and interfaced with the controller development software MATRIXx. This allows the use of the complex vehicle models directly in the controller development environment which includes both driver inputs to the vehicle and a model of BOSCH's advanced Electronic Braking System (EBS) for commercial vehicles. Reliable vehicle models result from a validation process and proposed control strategies are transferred to a real-time control and simulation environment called ASCET for testing and further tuning directly in the vehicle.
