Abstract
The automobile will undergo in the next decade major changes in respect to increased safety, especially in the field of accident avoidance, in minimizing the exhaust gas and noise emissions, lowering the consumption of fossil fuel and becoming part of a total traffic management system. The technology will be driven by the progress of electronic and telematics as well as by new material and powertrain systems in the car and will guarantee that the automobile will also in future be the major transportation means for human and goods.
