Abstract
The authors presented "The concept of Direct Yaw-Moment Control(DYC) and the -method" for the analysis of a vehicles dynamic system at the International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle
Conference(AVEC) in 1992. With understanding of the DYC concept and the -method, the Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS), a drive-torque distribution system which takes torque from the inner wheel and transfers it to the outer wheel in a turn was developed. This system, achieved in 1996, was introduced for front-wheel-drive vehicles. A new Honda prelude is equipped with ATTS. In this paper the basic theory of the control system and the principal of ATTS are presented. Also the effect by ATTS on an actual vehicle and its performance are discussed.
