Abstract
The increasing development of control systems improving the traffic flow, the driving safety, and the active driver assistance requires an increased function potential in future automotive systems.
This can be realized by improved man-machine-interfaces using electromechanical systems with embedded safety related functions in an electronic environment (X-by-Wire systems).
The main focus of this work is on the presentation of a method to develop a safety and supervision concept for electromechanical wheel brakes being realized by Darmstadt University of Technology, Institute of Control Engineering in cooperation with ITT Automotive Europe GmbH.
