Abstract
Our customers are no more preoccupied only by the technical performances of their cars, but more and more by comfort.
In order to suit these requirements as regards comfort, Renault has decided to work more particularly on odours coming from the interior parts of the car.
These odours originate from volatile organic compounds emitted by polymeric parts inside the car.
Characterisations are performed by olfactory analysis made by a trained sensory panel and by gas chromatography-olfaction-mass spectrometry coupling.
Some examples of improvements performed thanks to these methods will be given.
