Abstract

Mobility is a key word concerning social and economic development and technical progress.

Classically defined mobility, in the sense of traffic, describes physical movements of persons. A rapid development of these movements in terms of quantity, length and journey purposes and modes could be observed. Besides, this definition of mobility seems to be going to be changed in order to see mobility in a much broader context. This kind of mobility may be described as virtual mobility. Modern technology will allow to create new dimensions for communication and possibilities for virtual environments. Questions concerning the interrelations between physical and virtual mobility will arise dealing e.g. with the complementary or substitutional aspects.
