Abstract
Improvements in the mobility of handicapped and people with reduced mobility , and the safety associated to it, are getting a growing importance in present society. In the last few years engineers have begun to research about wheelchairs and restraint systems for them and the occupants in motor vehicles, but knowledge and regulations in this field are still insufficient. This paper shows a revision of current situation of legislation and, in the same manner, the methodology that is being used in INSIA to check the behaviour of these systems. Finally, some conclusions obtained from this studies are discussed.
