Abstract
The Visionaute service has been launched since October '97 in Paris area, France. It is the first commercial traffic information service, that gives road events, traffic status and travel time. It uses
RDS-TMC broadcast messages.
After 6 months of commercial availability, travel time is seen by drivers as the most valuable information element. Travel time is really efficient to help the driver planning his/her journey.
The availability of accurate travel time for car travelling is an important step towards intermodality.
