Abstract
VISEE is a guiding system which helps drivers at stops during the few seconds before docking. The aims of this project were to warrant an optimal docking (about 10 cm) to improve the bus accessibility and the bus productivity by accelerating the getting on/off of passengers. A prototype, with camera and electric motor on the steering column, was developed on a bus to assess the aiding system in practice. Several trial campaigns (on tests track and real site) were lead (with Renault V.I. test drivers and professional drivers) to validate the global system on functional and dysfunctional scenarios. In conclusion, the technical feasibility of the optical guiding was proven and the professional drivers assessed very positively the interests and comfort of the aiding system.
