Abstract
The demanded quality and reliability expected of such a diversified product as a heavy truck can only be achieved by consistent standardization of the components, combined with an ingenious modular construction principle. Nevertheless, considerable problems still remain regarding the development and production of the vehicles. The purpose of comprehensive quality management is to satisfy these demands.
This paper indicates the fundamental change that has taken place from traditional quality assurance to modern quality management. A point of main effort is the practical transformation and implementation in the operating processes for a truck manufacturer. Special emphasis is placed on the roles of the customers, suppliers, and employees. The employees role has been redefined, primarily to heighten the understanding for the customers standpoint.
