Abstract

The world automotive industry is aware of going through a turbulent period in its long history.

Numerous, in fact, are the combined phenomena to be able to predict, without a big risk of error, a less eventual future than in the years of expansion of the second half of the century. Robotisation in its activities of production will surely continue in this coming century. It will definitely become an industry of capital or else without labour. It will continue, as it has done up till now, to become world-wide but with an accelerated rythm. Besides, it will shift its factories according to the demands of the national autonomy which will determine the modalities of its spreading worldwide. Its enterprises will be obliged to go beyond their customary strategy of differenciation and renewal of the range of their products in order to look ahead to the eventual creation of new vehicles of transport using in particular new sources of energy and new processes of guiding. Finally, as the financial system of its enterprises shows in the different stock exchanges in the world, it will be worthwhile to get to know if it will have to continue to concentrate up to and when a very small number of giant world enterprises - say - 3, one per continent, would be able to realize in this way all the economies of dimension which allow the present and future state of technology, including that of the use of the global information networks authorized henceforth in the matter of distribution.
