Abstract

This paper proposes new working methods for performing high channel modal tests using smart transducers. These transducers allow to store their relevant information in an electronic data sheet inside the transducer. During preparation of the modal test, either outside or in the measurement hall, the smart transducers are programmed independently of their cabling or wiring. Once connected to the multichannel data-acquisition frontend, all information stored in the transducer can be read in the measurement system. Total test time is dramatically reduced by avoiding time-consuming, but common, errors in calibration values and/or channel labeling, typical for large channel count setups.
