Abstract

The pressure on development cycles in automotive industry forces the acoustical engineers to develop simulation models even for Sound Quality applications. A concept is presented where the signal is split into two parts: the components that can be described in some kind of model capable of sound quality equivalent sound synthesis, and a 'background' signal. The first step is the verification of this concept for an engine Transfer Path Analysis application. The second step is the development of a model for the 'background' signal. The third step is to understand and model throttle variations. Then, user control of the throttle and alternative vehicle weight scenarios need evaluation. Finally, this sound synthesis concept is introduced in a hybrid-modeling environment.
