Abstract
Modern gasoline engines with exhaust gas aftertreatment systems produce ultra low emissions after catalyst light off. Further emission reduction focuses on improvement of cold start, warm up and hot start condition. AVL together with a partner, specialist in environmental simulation, has developed a Compact Environmental Enclosure System. Integrated refrigeration unit and fast cool down systems provide engine and ambient temperature between -40##o##C and +80##o##C. This paper describes the advantages, the performance and an example of the application of this system.
