Abstract
New requirements for test bed drives To speed up drivetrain development cycles an engine simulator (prime mover) is needed to substitute the internal combustion engine on the test bed. That simulator should reproduce the complex nature of engine torque as well as the real inertia of the internal combustion (IC) engine. Therefore different Prime Mover systems are developed or in developing process. This article gives an overview of the existing solutions, their advantages and disadvantages and an outlook to future solutions.
