Abstract
The enjoyment of driving a sports car is strongly connected to emotions. One important aspect to enhance emotions is an optimum interior sound of such cars. Especially during acceleration such a sound has to support vehicle performance and overall vehicle quality. In this paper a new analysis method which was developed to describe the interior sound for sports cars on an objective basis is presented. The development process of this objective description of sports car sound and the results obtained will be described. By using such objective methods in the future, the necessary sound engineering process can be effectively guided and thus reduced in time and effort for achieving an optimum target sound for special brands of sports cars.
