Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe a computational prediction method for engine cooling performance. The method enables the evaluation of coolant temperature in the initial stage of new vehicle development. This paper first identifies the heat balance mechanism of the engine cooling system. Then, based on those results, it integrates the algebraic model of this mechanism with a CFD analysis. Through such an exercise, an agreement with experimental results has been achieved successfully.
