Abstract

The experimental measurements of transmission loss of Helmhltz-resonator type mufflers are presented. The transmission loss not only falls but also shifts toward higher frequency as the mean velocity of flow in pipe is increased more than about 20 m/s. Accordingly the former equations could be hardly applied to predict the acoustical characteristics of the resonators with high-speed flow.
