Abstract
In the past, to ensure the quality of stamping and welding processes, we measured automotive bodies and panels using delicated Checking Fixtures (C/Fs). In 1989 Toyota introduced the first Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), into the field of body measurement and used them as the basis for a comprehensive quality assurance system. This system supports the four major quality assurance processes (quality planning, pre-measurement, measurement, and analysis). And then this system has allowed us to achieve innovations in the car body quality assurance processes, transforming a previously tedious and time-consuming task into an efficient and user-friendly one.
