Abstract

A CV joint boot has a role to seal the lubricant contained inside joint and to prevent intrusions to dust, water, sand, pebbles, etc. This study is to analyze the deformation patterns, strain, and stress distribution of the rubber boot under the rotation of a joint shaft in the range 10° through 40°. The results of the finite element analysis agree well with those of experiment. It is expected to reduce the time and cost needed for the design and development of CV joint boot by computer simulation.
