Abstract

The contribution of tire transient property to vehicle dynamics were generally validated. To analyze dynamic vehicle handling properties in consideration of tire dynamics, we upgraded our tire model, so as to take both tire dynamics and nonlinearity into consideration by combining the "Magic Formula" tire model with a first order lag tire model. With this modified dynamic "Magic Formula" tire model, we have developed the tire model that calculates transient and nonlinear tire force, subjected to variations in slip angle and load, with the help of numerical integration. The vehicle responses were to be simulated with this method. The computed vehicle impulse response, for instance, was found to be more close toward actual vehicle response, this showing the improvement of our system.
