Abstract
Measurement of vehicle kinematics and compliance characteristics is an important method for suspension designers and vehicle dynamicists when designing and optimizing vehicle suspensions for handling performance, ride quality and noise isolation. A newly introduced K&C measurement system uses an optical wheel motion sensor for accurate non-contacting measurement of wheel displacements in all six degrees of freedom. This measurement, combined with a Force and Moment transducer and control system designed specifically for kinematics and compliance testing provides accurate and productive testing capability.
