Abstract

Better drivability and fuel economy in automatic transmission vehicles are desired qualities. As a way to provide them, an automotive powertrain total control system with torque feedback has been investigated. A smooth gear shift control method which uses the total control system is described. Parameters for throttle valve control must be identified when shift shock occurs. And an automotive powertrain simulator is used to determine them. The smooth gear shift control method is examined using a test vehicle. The powertrain simulator gets almost the same characteristics as the test vehicle and the torque step shock is reduced by approximately 30 %.
