Abstract
Series of experiments were carried out to investigate the influence of induction tube volume and connecting hose size to the performance of a two stroke - one cylinder - 100 cc spark ignition engine. For a given value of tube volume and size of connecting hose the engine was tested stationery with a constant throttle opening. The engine torque and fuel consumption were measured for various engine speed in the range of 2000 to 7000 rpm. The results show that the application of induction tube improves the engine performance especially at small throttle opening. This is shown by the increasing of torque and volumetric efficiency compared to those of a standard engine. The results also show that there is an optimum induction tube volume which gives a maximum improvements.
