Abstract
This paper deals with fuel consumption in real traffic situations in terms of vehicle operating patterns. In the analysis, observed data are collected by a vehicle equipped with measuring instruments and are divided into each "Short-trip (ST)". Moreover, ST can be divided into stopping and running situations. Speed fluctuation in running situations causes fuel consumption fluctuation, which can be described by "Acceleration Energy Equivalence". The roadways where the experiments was carried out are categorized into 2-lane streets, 6-lane streets and expressway. Among those roadway groups, the characteristics of vehicle operating patterns and fuel consumption are different each other. The authors investigate the each structure, and find out the generalized structure of fuel consumption.
