Abstract
The best way to reduce automotive plastic waste is to recycle used plastic parts into parts. To accomplish this, Isuzu has been working on establishing a "Recycle Loop" which is feasible both technologically and economically. The Loop includes the processes of 1) increasing the ratio of polypropylene (PP) in plastic materials for automotive parts, 2) decreasing the number of PP grades, 3) recovering used PP parts from the market, 4) reprocessing the used PP, 5) developing mass production molding processes for the recycled PP. The current status of Isuzu's development is described in this report with the focus on our Multi-layer sandwich Injection Molding project.
