Abstract

In the viewpoint of environment protection, Alcohols as alternative fuel have been used to conventional spark igniton engine. In this study, the utilization of blends, which consist of gasoline and 40% (vol.%) alcohols (ethanol, methanol and isobutanol) were attempted to know how the engine performance varies. The results show that CO and HC concentration were lower for blends compared with gasoline, but NOx concentration for blends was higher at fuel-rich region and almost all spark timing. Combustion variation with using blends was reduced with the increase of equivalence ratio and spark timing advance.
