Abstract
This paper presents the trend and direction of "Digital Process Engineering using Solid Modelling as a core technology". The implementation of this technology is about to take place thanks to the rapid progress of recent IT (Information Technology).
Times have changed, and the development and production engineering process is changing rapidly as well. The second generation CAD, where the parts defined as solid models are assembled into digital mock-up, is taking over the first generation CAD, in which two dimensional drafting was replaced with CAD and three dimensional geometry was defined with wireframe CAD.
Data Management with PDM (Product Data Management Systems) and Collaboration through Communication Networks are both indispensable to make effective use of Digital Mock-up Technology applicable to an actual process.
