Abstract
Environmental improvement is now one of the most important social concerns in the world. Asian and Oceanic countries are also adopting new gaseous emission regulations. Hino Motors, Ltd. has lined up its new engine series (Table 1) to meet the new regulations and to satisfy customer requirements such as improved fuel consumption and durability.
This paper describes key technologies for these engines to reduce emission levels and to improve fuel consumption and durability. The technologies described are mainly based on the "J" engine.
