Abstract
To reduce vehicle wind noise, we must implement the following three measures: 1) seek vehicle designs which suppress wind noise, 2) improve cabin insulation to keep out wind noise and 3) improve vehicle assembly quality in the production process. We have developed a Blowdown Type Wind Tunnel which generates local area wind and enables the direct measurement of wind noise generated at the surface of the vehicle. This high SIN radio measurement allows the separation of each noise source and quantitative analysis of it. In this paper, we introduce the system technology and give an example of a vehicle design proposal made by utilizing this system.
