Abstract
The student of automotive design, who will be entering a career as a designer or stylist, needs to be well versed in the broad field of transportation design. Many automobile manufacturers in countries of the Pacific Rim not only build passenger cars, but also manufacture or assemble trucks, buses, tractors, industrial equipment, motorcycles, or bicycles. They often incorporate design centers that design the various vehicles they build. The automotive designer therefore works in effect, as a product designer in harmony with project engineers.
