Abstract
As with most mechanical engineering departments throughout universities in Indonesia, the Mechanical Engineering Department of ITB regards an undergraduate thesis as the keystone of its undergraduate program. Although the syllabus is not very clearly defined, it is well understood that the aim of the thesis is to prepare students in such a way that it enables them to solve real engineering problems by synthesizing the knowledge acquired through the courses in the undergraduate curriculum. This paper describes several examples of thesis works carried out by the students using multi body simulation software for vehicle system dynamics such as suspension performance simulation, critical speed and performance of rail vehicles, torque steer simulation and anti pitch optimization. Experience gained by the authors during the supervision of the thesis is highlighted.
