Abstract
The dynamic simulation of the performance of different actuation braking components, such as boosters, master cylinders and pressure regulating valves, can be a great help in the analysis, design and development of such components. The use of a validated computer simulation tool, capable of predicting the performance curves of the braking elements under different working conditions (velocity, temperature, ...) and variations of the parameters which characterise the design (masses, spring forces, distances, tolerances, ...) allows to save a large number of tests and reduce the number of prototypes before the final design.
The Technological Institute of Aragón and LUCAS VARITY have been working on the development of such a tool for several years, first starting with simple models, and then continuously refining them so as to achieve the highest possible accuracy.
