Abstract
This paper outlines the current "state-of-the-art" and illustrates the progress of integrated, computer-based systems for fatigue durability management.
Partnerships & collaborations have been created between organisations which provide "best-in class" Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) capabilities and are focused upon meeting the needs of companies wishing to implement product development procedures based around the durability process.
Powerful CAE tools and technical databases are now available which, if integrated effectively, can help to improve product quality and shorten the development time to market: with consequent cost savings. These tools provide a means to optimise all aspects of a product's development from the initial concept to simulated manufacture and assembly. Maximum benefits are achieved through linking these tools with straightforward application interfaces, thus creating "turnkey" packages of integrated analysis and data processing tools, optimally linked to a Single
Geometric Model (SGM) from the original CAD design file.
