Abstract
Most realistic structures are normally loaded with multiple random loads. These determine the stress/strain distribution that dictates the durability and functionality of the system. The knowledge of the dynamic relationship between the applied loads and the corresponding response is fundamental in determining the dominating mechanism that controls the durability of any given structure. In this paper, an elastic analysis method to determine the stress tensor at a point on a structure due to multiple load excitation is proposed. The method takes into account the dynamic response of the system. This is a requirement to evaluate the most damaging excitations that control the total stress at the sensitive points of structures.
