Abstract

Active control of vehicle shuffle is a powerful means of ensuring that class leading levels of vehicle refinement are achieved. This paper describes the application of classical loop shaping controller design techniques to the design of an engine torque control system for production vehicle application.

The paper first describes some background to the vehicle shuffle problem. It then discusses the modeling approach and the control design objectives. Finally, both simulation and vehicle results are presented and some comments made on implementation issues.
